Meet Your Mayor

As your mayor, my focus is to serve you, the rest of the citizens and businesses in the city of Cocoa. I will strive and commit to help the city meet its changing and diverse needs to make Cocoa a better place to live and work for all of you. My focus is to support the city’s efforts to help redevelop our neighborhoods, create more jobs, improve the quality of our educational environment and life for you and others.

This year, I am excited to proceed with the building of our new city hall, attracting more commercial businesses to Cocoa such as Sam’s and continuing our ongoing property maintenance efforts to help make our city more beautiful.

I am proud to be your mayor and a member of council. For the past 2 years, I have served as a liaison and the chairperson to the Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency, Weed and Seed program and Save Our Neighborhood.

My municipal experience in Cocoa as a volunteer includes service on task forces, other boards and committees including Volunteers in Action, the political awareness committee for my church, Metropolitan Missionary Baptist and Ujima service organization. This year, I am proud to have been elected as the first black president for the Space Coast League of Cities. From volunteering at the annual “Trash Bash,” to delivering over 270 donated turkeys to our local families and organization in need during the holidays, I’m always glad to give of my time and energy to our city.

As for my career, it is in education. I teach at Clearlake Middle School, a Cocoa “A” school, while pursuing my master’s degree in education supervision and educational leadership. I’m a graduate of Cocoa High School and received my undergraduate degree from South Carolina State. In addition, I’ve enjoyed coaching high school football and basketball at Clearlake Middle School and Cocoa High School.

I’m a native of Cocoa and it is also where I have spent my entire life. I enjoy jazz, movies, aquatics, football, NASCAR, jetskiing, history and teaching social studies at Clearlake.

Now that you know a little bit more about me, I want you to know I’m proud to serve you. If you need to contact me, please call 433-8683.
